This high-quality and challenging 1,000-piece Takashi Murakami Jigsaw Puzzle features a reproduction of Murakami’s three-panelled painting 727 (1996), a work in MoMA’s collection. The work features Mr. DOB, a character created in 1993 who was among the first in a pantheon of characters inspired by the culture of anime (cartoons) and manga (comics) that emerged in Japan’s postwar era and became wildly popular in the 1980s.

Takashi Murakami was born in Tokyo in 1962. An artist in MoMA's collection, he is known for blurring the line between fine art and pop culture. His artwork is greatly influenced by manga, a style of Japanese comic books and animations. In 1994, he received a fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council and participated in MoMA PS1’s International Studio Program. His work has been featured in several MoMA exhibitions, including Comic Abstraction: Image-Breaking, Image-Making from 2007.

This puzzle includes a unique easy-to-assemble nine-compartment sorting tray for organizing the puzzle pieces inside the box.

Made from 95% recycled greyboard and printed with non-toxic ink. Assembled, the puzzle measures 20l x 30"w.
